A huge congratulations to Scott Forbes and Zaf Khaliq. After years of studying, working hard and passing exams they are both now qualified paramedics.

Zaf started with the Network in January 2009, she enjoyed carrying out Heartstart, door knocking and also became a volunteer accountant.

Scott started with the Network in June 2010, he enjoyed driving and suprise suprise also enjoyed being a trainer for Heartstart.

Both have grown from strength to strength and we are all very proud of your achievements!

This will help Alex with his confidence and meeting new people, please support him in this new venture.

Volunteer Heroes!

UNSUNG hardworking heroes who volunteer in Redcar and Cleveland have been honoured.

The Redcar and Cleveland Volunteer Development Agency’s (RCVDA) annual presentation event was held in the grounds of Westfield Farm, Dormanstown, with afternoon tea in a marquee - to recognise the work of volunteers across the borough.

Mal Fitzgerald, chief executive of RCVDA, said: “It is important for us to recognise the hard work, dedication and commitment of local people that is happening in our communities every single day of the year.”

RCVDA Volunteer Awards 2015

As part of RCVDA Volunteer Awards 2015, Cleveland Fire Support Network sponsored and supported the Young Volunteer Team (under 21) Award.

The winners of this category were from The Junction. The 'Junctioneers' were: Rebecca Jackson, Mike Wilson, Sophie McCormick and Chloe Petite. 'These 4 young people are truly inspiring. They have dealt with and continue to deal with their own mental ill health, aswell as being young carers who are channelling their experiences to raise awareness for young carers, become peer mentors and support the development of services for young carers.'

Youth Volunteers

Cleveland Fire Support Network supports and welcomes volunteers from the age of 15. We were recently successful in gaining funding from 'YOYO' specifically to promote our youth volunteering. We teamed up with Zetland FM to produce a radio broadcast about our youth volunteers and their experiences with us.
